The Adat Science and Art Academy aka, “The Pentagon Science Technology Art and Mathematics (STaM)" was founded in 2017. The academy's mid-term objective is to become a hub for African youths/leaders (the pentagons) who have distinguished themselves in Science and Art and are determined to change the narratives in African governance and the next production revolution and, as African representatives, create a new image for Africa globally.

The goal of the Program lies in Unearthing African youths and leaders who will explore her History and historical differences in designing Policies that can address her problems.The locations for auditions are Abuja, Calabar, and Lagos (Nigeria) and Nairobi (Kenya). Skype auditions will be used for applicants in the diaspora and those who are far from these locations.

Criteria

All Applicants:

  • Must be African
  • Must be able to speak at least 1 African indigenous language
  • Must be aged 16-35 years as at the time of application
  • Must be very creative. This is very important because at the audition and final stage of the contest, presentations would be assessed based on the teams’ ability to express African history via stage acting, dramatizing, poetry, artwork (painting), and conference discussions among others.
  • Must be a good team player
  • Must be able to read, understand and unravel details in critical and creative writings

Applications would be reviewed based on:

  • Applicant’s ability to communicate effectively through writing
  • Applicant’s creativity in writing
  • Good knowledge of Africa pre-colonial and colonial experiences

Stages in the Selection

  • Creative and critical writing.
  • Contestants whose applications are scaled to the next stage of the selection process would be selected and invited for auditioning at Abuja, Cross River State, Lagos (Nigeria) and Nairobi (Kenya)
  • Contestants who make it to the final stage of the competition will be grouped into teams based on the review panel’s discretion and invited to Lagos for “The African History Challengers’ Contest”.

 

Benefits

  • Cash prize of USD12,000 for the winner and USD 6,000 for the runner-up
  • Lots of consolation prizes for outstanding team members
  • The 20 contestants who make it to the final stage would be casted in the Academy Film, The Alkebulan. This is actually the hallmark of the contest.
