MIT Inclusive Innovation Challenge - African Inclusive Innovation Summit Movemeback African event cover image

Details

The first African Inclusive Innovation Summit will explore how technology can facilitate new job opportunities and skills for Africa’s youth and engage disenfranchised groups, by highlighting tech that is creating economic opportunity for low- and middle-income earners across Africa.

We live in a world where technology runs the risk of reinforcing - and sometimes exacerbating - existing divides within societies. The first African Inclusive Innovation Summit will explore how technology can facilitate new job opportunities and skills for Africa’s youth and engage disenfranchised groups, by highlighting tech that is creating economic opportunity for low- and middle-income earners across Africa.

The one-day event will convene start-ups, investors, policy makers, and technology thought leaders in a series of keynotes, panels and workshops. The summit will then culminate in the Regional Finale Celebration of MIT’s Inclusive Innovation Challenge (IIC) 2019, MIT’s premier future of work prize. Read more about the challenge here.

Liquid Telecom is proud to serve as the Regional Collaborator for the IIC, and host for the Summit.

About MIT Inclusive Innovation Challenge

At MIT, we believe that inclusive innovation – the use of technology to generate increased economic opportunity for moderate and low income earners – is an imperative with a tight deadline. The question we should be asking ourselves at this historic moment isn’t “what is technology going to do to our economy and society,” but rather “what will we do with technology? Our vision is an economy that works for all. Our mission is to accelerate the success of the change-making-entrepreneurs that are making that vision a reality, and to drive a solutions-oriented conversation about the future of work.
