Their pristine water, locally produced, non-GMO fish feed and a robust cold-chain, results in an affordable, high quality product - transforming the customer experience. In addition, Yalelo have launched several local community programmes supporting health and social development initiatives which, drive the well-being and empowerment of the local community. Yalelo are expanding into Uganda, and are currently seeking a Production Security Manager to join their team, based in Jinja.

 

As the new Production Security Manager, you will develop and oversee the policies and operational programs intended to mitigate and/or reduce compliance, operational, strategic, financial and reputational security risks relating to the protection of company assets. Reporting to the Production Director, you will manage a team comprised of the Security Team Leaders (Physical and Systems & Control Room Operations), Harbour Master and Lake Operations. A strong communicator and hands on leader, you will build and maintain internal relationships cross functionally and key external relationships with Local and National Law Enforcement, military and intelligence agencies, Community Leaders and the Local Community Informants network.

 

Role Responsibilities:

 

  • Develop and regularly update the geographical security profile (with regards socio-economic, criminality)
  • Fill in and regularly update Risk Analysis Matrix (threat, likelihood, impact, level of vulnerability, level of risk)
  • Develop security trend analysis
  • Ensure that all critical areas of security concern are adequately covered in the security plan and are effectively managed, monitored and controlled
  • Undertake regular audits, research, and investigations to continuously improve security management through Regular review of policies, procedures and processes in relation to findings
  • Draft and regularly update the Production Security Plan for validation by the Production Director and endorsement by ExCo
  • Draft Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) adapted to the local context
  • Draft and regularly update Crisis Response, Evacuation and Contingency plans in conjunction with incident response team
  • Ensure preparedness to crisis scenarios, evacuation and contingencies that includes a schedule of scenario drills to ensure continuous improvement of company-wide reaction and response to a variety of incidents
  • Coordinate and monitor security activities to ensure that safety and security policies and procedures are implemented and strictly adhered to
  • Conduct regular site inspections ensuring that the prescribed Standard Operating Procedure is being observed and the operations are controlled as directed
  • Provide specialised advice to line management in all security functions, protection, Intelligence, information and investigation
  • Carry out conclusive investigations on incidents and accidents in order to create a safe environment and prevent recurrence
  • Ensure that resources are appropriately and efficiently allocated to key areas of work and that priorities are always covered adequately
  • Manage the capital and expense budget for the organisation's security and safety operations, ensuring budgets are properly controlled and managed, to achieve best value for money
  • Manage the hiring and evaluation of all security staff and organisation personnel with security duties
  • Ensure that training needs are identified and processed promptly and are undertaken at the appropriate time
  • Production of security reports and generation of management insights
  • Incorporates Yalelo Values into daily work practices and personifies the values, behaviours and culture to serve as role model to the team
  • Develop, manage and direct the capital and expense budget for the organisation's security and safety operations
  • Contributing to development of pragmatic processes, policies and procedures

Criteria

  • At least ten years Security Services experience (police/military/intelligence services), and at least three years at supervisory or management level within the private security industry, preferably working within multinational companies (FMCG, manufacturing desirable, or alternatively natural resources - mining/oil & gas)
  • Leadership Experience which must include extensive experience managing teams of supervisors across large geographical expanses
  • Familiarity working with local law enforcement and managing diverse stakeholders
  • Strong knowledge of next generation electronic security and surveillance systems and how they can be installed and optimised to enhance an overarching site security and surveillance strategy
  • Intimate knowledge of establishing and running a complex terrestrial and maritime security operation
  • Strong and demonstrable experience in the management of specialist security access and control systems
  • Experience of writing procedures, drafting reports, preparing business cases and compiling and adjusting terrestrial and maritime security shift patterns to optimise staffing levels and maximise security detail vigilance and productivity
  • A sound working knowledge of security best practice and legislation affecting national security operations
  • Experience and ability to perform tasks of a physical nature
  • Experience dealing with individuals in confrontational situations
  • A meticulously presented self-starter with a positive and professional attitude with the ability to operate at all levels of the business spectrum to achieve outcomes
  • Strong management and leadership skills along with excellent communication, influencing, negotiating and engagement skills
  • Sound judgement and decision making skills, with a ‘hands on’, problem solving approach
  • An ability to remain calm under pressure and take control of incidents
  • An ability to demonstrate confidentiality and sensitivity in dealing with security matters
  • Resilience and the ability to work independently and effectively under pressure
  • Flexible and adaptable with the ability to work within a changing environment and respond to different demands with a sense of urgency
  • Strong computer literacy with a working knowledge of the complete range of MS Office packages
