Taptap Send is an app that lets people send money back home to Africa and Asia instantly and at very low prices. Launched in 2019, it is a venture-backed start-up with investors including Reid Hoffman, the Omidyar Network, and Helios. Taptap is tapping into a transformative shift in global finance: from banks to phones. While this has affected wealthier countries as well, it has been nothing short of a revolution for the emerging markets where the overwhelming majority of population had been unable to access digital finance previously. Its first product, Taptap Send, allows immigrants to send money home instantly and with no fee, saving money in the process. With a formal market size of >700B alone, Taptap say 'we've got a lot more saving to do for our users. And that’s just the beginning….'

The Role

As the Nigeria Country Manager your role will be to develop and scale Taptap Send’s growth amongst the Nigerian diaspora in key sender-side markets: the UK, US, Canada, as well as France, Belgium, Italy, Spain, Germany (and more to come).
 

You will be excited to manage every aspect of growth in the said markets, including: customer acquisition and retention strategy, pricing, user research, product quality, customer experience, team development and coaching. You will have an acute “own it” mindset, and be equally obsessed with the experience of individual users as with iterating and optimizing scalable growth tactics and processes. Reporting to a Regional Head, you’ll combine great operational prowess with a data-driven test-and-learn mindset. You’ll be a creative thinker who is always looking for ways to hack growth. You’ll also have the emotional intelligence and experience to hire and inspire great talent. Location

Please note that the ideal location for this opportunity is the United States or United Kingdom as the role will require existing networks within the US/UK and Nigerian diaspora. Candidates with a preference to be based outside of the UK or US will be considered if they can demonstrate previous experience gained within the UK/US or existing networks within the Nigerian diaspora in the UK/USUS. Candidates who wish to be based in the UK/US must have existing rights to live and work within the UK/US. Unfortuantely, Taptap Send are unable to support with sponsorship at the present time.

Role Responsibilities:

 

  • Lead all aspects of the execution of TTS’s growth strategy in key markets
  • Understand everything that’s going on in your markets through tracking and reporting on key metrics
  • Develop and scale creative growth campaigns that are nevertheless tailored to specific communities  
  • Recruit and lead a growing team
  • Work cross-functionally with the Product, Ops, Business Development, and Engineering teams to ensure Taptap Send has the best product offering in the market
  • Run experiments that help us constantly improve the Growth playbook
  • Collaborate with other members of the Growth team to develop and share best practices

 

Criteria

  • 5+ years of experience in a high-performing, fast-paced environment (tech, professional services, political organizing, etc.) High-growth startup experience and P&L ownership a plus
  • Experience building and leading a team and a commitment to investing in their development
  • A data-driven decision-making mindset and business acumen
  • “No task too small” mentality and willingness to delve into gritty details to get things done
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Passion for working with and for migrant communities
  • Fluent in English; other languages a plus
  • This opportunity will require remote working, although you will need to be based in London. The team is also open to considering candidates who are not currently UK-based but are willing or able to relocate

Since launching in summer 2018, we’ve already moved tens of millions of dollars and reached tens of thousands of customers. We’re live in the UK, EU, US and Canada, and we support payments into Senegal, Mali, Guinea, Ghana, Cameroon, the Ivory Coast, Kenya, Madagascar, Zambia, Bangladesh,  Vietnam,  DR Congo,  Morocco, Sri Lanka,  Rep. Global remittances account for over $500 billion annually, most of which moves back into developing countries. In doing so, we are working on making the UN Sustainable Development Goal of bringing cross-border remittance costs down by 2030 a reality today.
