As Director, Engineering, you will manage a team of over 50 engineers and developers, collaborating with the product managers, as well as guiding the company’s product vision and maintaining compliance with quality standards. Alongside colleagues you will enjoy working with, you will lead by example and coach different teams across the product group. You must possess passion, a positive demeanor, a strong technical background managing successful teams of application developers, and solid experience within fast growing SaaS environments.



Role Responsibilities:

  • Lead the engineering team and establish best practice engineering standards and processes. This person will create a relentless culture of quality, and establish metrics for all aspects of software engineering, platform performance, quality, and security
  • Work closely with other Engineering Managers and Technical Leads to support initiatives and determine best courses of action to deliver value and achieve business objectives
  • Participate in building product roadmaps and aligning it with technology roadmap in partnership with the Director of Product and Design
  • Serve as the leader and liaison between management and engineers by collaborating with the management to develop and maintain a technology vision that supports organizational needs and broader business goals
  • Act as a nexus for technology-related issues and key strategic discussions where product development and product management are concerned
  • Interpret customer and product needs and engineering ability to optimize company development and output
  • Drive the architecture and delivery of a software platform that is reliable, scalable, and  secure
  • Champion new ideas, capabilities and digital offering solutions needed to drive business growth
  • Manage the performance of the engineering team and evaluate current team capabilities, including planning, budgeting, contractual and human resource requirements
  • Work closely with finance to develop ROI justification for major initiatives, ensuring that projects are completed on time and stay within budget
  • Drive agile product and platform development, manage programs and leverage flexible operating models across different geographies, globally
  • Identify, measure and course-correct on success factors and critical metrics of creating and sustaining business value through collaborative cross-enterprise solutions
  • Keep up-to-date with relevant trends and practices within the tech industry
  • Apply and promote SeamlessHR culture and core values at all times
  • Undertake ad-hoc duties as agreed with the CTO

Functional/Technical Requirements: 

  • Bachelor's Degree or relevant qualification required
  • 15+ years of experience in software development, commercial delivery & strategy, predominantly building consumer-grade applications and products using agile methodology
  • Experience working on SaaS products will be an advantage
  • 5+ years of hands-on programming experience with PHP and/or Node.js, API development
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills – has experience managing 50+ engineers
  • Deep understanding of AWS and cloud architecture
  • Expert knowledge of computer science, with a strong understanding of architecture in large-scale, distributed systems
  • Strong knowledge of data structures and algorithms
  • Ability to be both player & coach, and be passionate about getting into the details and driving large technology initiatives, while coaching and empowering teams to take ownership
  • Advanced knowledge of Project Management methodologies, tools, and techniques
  • Excellent verbal, non-verbal, and written communication skills
