We are looking for an Executive Vice President, Africa cluster (VP AC) who is passionate about Information and Communication Technologies and enjoys the unique challenges of growing business in an emerging industry. You will join Positivo BGH’s executive organization, a high-performing and dynamic team that is focused on positioning Positivo BGH as the leader in the emerging African ICT sector.

 

The VP AC is responsible for leading Positivo BGH’s African Business Development and Operations activities. The position is a member of Positivo BGH’s executive management team (XMT) and will report to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), leading a direct team of 1-3 business developers and the operations team located in key markets. As part of the African Hub organization located in the city, the VP AC will work closely with the CEO and other departments to assure smooth coordination between the remotely-sited business developers and the rest of the organization, enabling Positivo BGH meets the needs of its customers and to stay ahead of the market. The VP AC will be responsible for driving our ambitious growth plans within the ICT market, growing from ~$15 Million revenue to ~$150 Million per year in the next 2-3 years.

 

Role Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain relationships with key customers and other stakeholders in the ICT industry (e.g. policy makers, Government’s Ministries, Universities, Intel, Microsoft, Google) to position Positivo BGH for opportunities
  • Provide strategic direction and mentorship to enable a team of business developers to identify and win opportunities, including prioritization and assignment, identification of client/market needs, and development/execution of win strategies
  • Own the Customer Relationship Management (CSM) software to ensure that the Business Development team has solid opportunity tracking to maximize potential business and minimize lost opportunities
  • Provide overarching leadership and management of Positivo BGH’s sales funnel, including planning and prioritization, preparation of proposals, forecasting, reporting, and participation in go/no-go reviews
  • Collaborate with the CEO and Public Affairs & Marketing groups to define tools and marketing materials that showcase Positivo BGH’s products/services to support customer engagement and market entry
  • Completing performance reviews
  • Work closely with the CEO, Product and Strategy group to structure and refine Positivo BGH’s product and service offerings for new and existing business lines, providing customer/competitor insights to improve value to Clients and our competitive advantage
  • Develop and maintain efficient processes between and amongst the business development, commercial, and engineering disciplines to ensure competitive, robust proposals and seamless handovers
  • Represent the company, contribute to thought leadership, and advocate for strategic priorities through presentations and workshops (webinars, conferences, meetings, and other relevant events)
  • Work with the CEO and the Legal department to structure and negotiate MOU’s, partnerships, and other commercial agreements
  • Develop, operate and improve the systems that create and deliver the firm's products/services in Africa, ensuring that business operations are efficient and effective and that the proper management of resources, distribution of goods and services to customers and analysis of queue systems is conducted
  • Lead and oversee the day-to-day operations in Africa
  • Other activities as needed in related disciplines
     

Criteria

Required Education:

  • Bachelor's degree; Masters or MBA preferred

Required Professional Experience:

  • 10 + years proven experience in BD, Sales, Development, Consulting, or similar
  • Proven experience in business development and sales
  • Experience with technology focused companies and comfort in project environments
  • Experience with electronics and government projects mainly in education will be viewed favorably
  • Background/competencies in technical fields such as electronics engineering, and/or big scale project development/delivery will be viewed favorably

Required Knowledge

  • Commercial acumen and experience negotiating complex transactions
  • Exceptional written communications and presentation skills
  • Familiarity with project development timelines, internal/external risks, decision gates, and other customer/project decision criteria
  • Languages: Fluent in English required; Other languages a plus (namely in markets where we are present) -Spanish, Portuguese, French
  • Ability to work across cultures and in different geographies
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office software (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) and CRM software

  • Comfort distilling complex technical concepts to audiences with various degrees of sophistication
  • Background/competencies in technical fields such as electronics engineering and/or big scale project development/delivery will be viewed favorably
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to travel 40% + (assuming return to normal in post-Covid-19 environment)
  • Authorization to work in [country in Africa]
  • Compliant with, and advocate for, Positivo BGH’s Business and HSE policies
  • Willingness to bridge the time gap between Africa and Latin America or Africa and Asia as may be required
