One Acre Fund is an agricultural development company working in several countries across East Africa that is innovating a new way of helping farm families to achieve their full potential. Instead of giving handouts, One Acre invests in farmers to generate a permanent gain in farm income. We provide farmers with a "market bundle" that includes education, finance, seed and fertilizer, and market access. Our program is proven impactful – every year, we weigh thousands of harvests and measure more than 100% average gain in farm income per acre. We have laser-like focus on generating better lives for the people that we serve.
We are growing quickly. In ten years, we have grown to serve 400,000+ farm families with more than 3,000 fulltime staff in Kenya alone. In three more years, we will at least quadruple in size, while adding several new country programs. Our approach has won widespread validation, winning grants from the highly competitive Echoing Green and Skoll Foundations, and the global Financial Times/ IFC award for "basic needs financing" in 2010 and 2011.
The Field Operations Department is the largest team in One Acre Fund. We focus on the short-term gains of our program and the management of our 2,700-person Field Team in order to drive business outcomes. We work closely with annual strategists across departments to ensure the program operates efficiently and in-sync across 50+ districts and 4 major operational regions of the country. It is the Field Operations department’s responsibility to ensure that we deliver a seamless, farmer-focused service to each of our customers while also designing the right forward-thinking plans to serve future farmers for years to come.

One Acre Fund supplies smallholder farmers in East Africa with asset-based financing and agriculture training services to reduce hunger and poverty. Headquartered in Kenya, One Acre works with farmers in rural villages throughout Kenya, Rwanda, Burundi, Tanzania and recently Malawi using a market-based approach. One Acre Fund facilitates activities and transactions at various levels of the farming value chain, including seed sourcing and market support. In 2013, farmers who worked with One Acre Fund realised a 180% return on their investment and significantly increased farm income on every planted acre.
Fundamentally, One Acre Fund believes farmers are the solution to poverty and hunger. Farmers make up the majority of the population in the world’s developing countries and include some of the hardest-working people on the planet. One Acre Fund puts farmers first in everything that the organisation does, creating simple new ways for farmers to significantly increase farm income on every planted acre. One Acre is now 3,000 staff strong, and growing fast with a 2020 vision to improve the lives of more than 1 million farm families by delivering exemplary services to their doorsteps.
