Who We Are:

We’re on a mission to build a bank Africans love to use! We are always keen to hear from capable, ambitious, and creative people who want to help us accomplish that goal.

 

We’re looking for an experienced and proactive EA to support our CEO as they lead our journey towards becoming the bank for Africans globally. You’ll have the high-impact opportunity to help shape how the team develops as NALA grows in the UK as well as internationally. You’ll also be working alongside our executive team to help define and shape what executive-level support looks like at NALA.

 

We are looking for someone who has experience being an executive assistant who is passionate about driving significant economic growth on the African continent through payments.

 

The ideal candidate is a lover of fintech, a quick learner, a strong problem solver, and is not afraid to step out of their comfort zone. You’ll be comfortable with lots of responsibility from day one - every week is different but you can expect to spend time with:
 

  • Correspondence: filtering and responding to emails; redirecting messages to the most appropriate person in the team
  • Decision-making: determining whether a meeting is worth taking, obtaining a clear agenda, ensuring it’s an appropriate length, and taking introductory phone calls when needed
  • Prioritisation: managing their diaries, rescheduling meetings, making sure time is carved out for managing their team and for non-meeting work
  • Preparation: slides for presentations; arranging transport, accommodation and meeting rooms; tracking and follow-up on meeting actions
  • Research: undertake project-related research for our executives
  • Administration: taking notes & actions at meetings, filing expenses, and other general support.
  • You’ll also need to manage your own time to determine how to most effectively support the team, and how to prioritise their different needs. There will also be opportunities to get involved in project work and other initiatives across the business that interest you.
  • The ideal candidate will have had experience working in a fast-moving startup environment, and should be excited about the work we do.

 

Criteria

  • You are proactive and can work autonomously
  • You’ve worked within a fast paced environment with ever changing priorities
  • You’re exceptionally attentive to detail and incredibly organised
  • You’re a quick learner, and ask incisive questions to gather the context you need
  • You’re intellectually curious and are interested to know more about the world of Finance
  • You have excellent communication skills with a proven ability to write and adapt style to different voices and audiences
  • You are hands-on: focussed on execution, removing ambiguity, and comfortable making and acting on decisions
  • You hold interest in Africa, financial services, payments, and wallets.
  • You have strong communication skills and abilities to work with remote teams.
  • You have fluency in written and spoken English.


Bonus points (but not essential):

  • Experience working in fintech.
  • Experience from a start-up.

About Nala

We want to build a bank for the African diaspora globally, initially by starting with remittances of diaspora sending money home.
