A little about Jeremy & Pauline:

  • Jeremy Hodara: Together with Sacha Poignonnec as Co-CEOs, Jermey has overseen the successful launch and expansion of Jumia across Africa. Previously, he worked at McKinsey in France, India, and the USA, consulting clients in retail and e-commerce for seven years.
  • Pauline Bouteiller: Is the Head of HR for Jumia. She joined McKinsey after graducation, first as a mangement consultant, then leading the EMEA recruiting arm of McKinsey’s Women Initiative and recruiting for the French office. Before joining Jumia she managed the Chinese daughter company of a French brand and design consultancy in Shanghai for 2 years.

 

More on the type of work you will do:

Take your career to the next level and seize major leadership opportunities from Country Department Heads to country CEO's, or cross-country leaders in sales, marketing, logistics,operations, finance or human resources. You will be based in one of Jumia’s 14 offices throughout Africa: Algeria, Cameroon, Egypt, Ghana, Ivory Coast, Kenya, Morocco, Nigeria, Senegal, South Africa, Tanzania, Tunisia, Uganda, United Arab Emirates.

 

The challenges you will face will be exciting and you will be offered the chance to build and impact the future of Jumia and e-commerce in Africa, in different fields:

  • Commercial  - bring the best products to Africa at the best prices. You will be leading the company’s sales performance and have direct oversight of commercial activities in the country;
  • Marketing - become the digital growth engine of the company and participate in building a strong international brand, helping brands get digital and partnering with diverse brands across the globe. You will be responsible for leading the company marketing performance, including in particular Online and Offline Marketing, Social Media, Partnerships, Branding and JForce Development;
  • Logistics - build the N°1 logistics partner in Africa. You will be responsible for creating and growing an ecosystem of logistic services providers which will serve our vendors and customers;
  • Operations - put in place strong and efficient operational processes to support our exponential growth. You will be responsible for leading the improvement of the Customer Experience, Vendor Experience & Operational Profitability in your country;
  • Finance - professionalise the finance department, scaling up our processes and systems, supporting Jumia’s compliance requirements (SOX) in parallel. You will also be defining and implementing Jumia’s financial strategy in collaboration with the CEO, as well as managing and maintaining the financial accounting system;
  • Human resources - bring our HR operations, recruitment and development capabilities to the next level in order to nurture a strong blend of local and international happy/engaged top talents and grow the business.

Criteria

  • Master’s degree or MBA from top international universities;
  • Strong local knowledge and deep understanding of business environment;
  • Ability to manage efficiently multiple teams;
  • Strong interpersonal skills;
  • Leader and fast learner, enthusiastic about online business;
  • Highly analytical;
  • Street smart, energetic and willing to take field work;
  • Agile and strong ability to deal with ambiguity in a multicultural context;
  • Proven project management skills;
  • Experience in Africa is an advantage;
  • Previous relevant experience in the field you’re applying for is preferred.
