Responsibilities:

• Initiate the coverage of Sub-Saharan African economies and multi-sectoral investment opportunities (country reports, research alerts, daily contributions to investment team meetings, and client-oriented presentations)
• Monitor foreign exchange and provide insights on foreign exchange and fixed income markets for Sub Saharan African economies
• Identify tradeable opportunities for the investing team, especially in the SSA Eurobond and FI/FX spaces
• Develop relationships with African policymakers, central bank officials, and market regulators
• Organise client roadshows for international investors in several key African countries
• Provide analytical support to the group’s fixed income, currencies, and equities trading desks
• Interact extensively with the media, including CNBC Africa, Bloomberg, Reuters, and local market reporters
• Participate in global roadshows in various offshore distribution hubs
• Support the business development team in terms of client coverage on an ongoing basis

• The applicant should have a second (postgraduate) degree in economics or finance and a strong background in macroeconomics
• Research expertise in financial sector issues, public finance, exchange rate policies etc. is highly valued
• Applicant must have 3 - 5 years of emerging market experience
• Excellent writing (in English) and communication skills (in English and French) are essential
• Ability to tailor high-quality comments/communications to particular audiences (clients, traders, public officials, salespeople, etc.)
• While the company is based in Ghana, this role can be done remotely, from anywhere
• Involves a reasonable amount of travel
