We are seeking an entrepreneurial, highly-organized professional to oversee our business operations - Accounting, Finance, and People administrative functions - across the U.S, and to serve as an effective right hand to the COO. This role is ideal for an accounting or finance professional seeking a more entrepreneurial work environment.



Role Responsibilities:

  • Lead and coordinate accounting and finance functions, including but not limited to:
    • Preparing monthly/quarterly/annual financial statements
    • Leading annual audit preparations
    • Filing tax returns and statutory reports
    • Recording daily financial transactions
    • Preparing and monitoring of org-wide budget
    • Preparing and presenting regular reports to the executive team
    • Investigating and reconciling any financial discrepancies
  • Lead and coordinate all US-based people administration functions (total headcount of 20-30 employees/contractors), including but not limited to: 
    • Managing payroll for US and international employees and contractors
    • Coordinating compliance and benefits for US-based employees and contractors
    • Coordinating new hire onboarding for US and international employees and contractors
  • Oversee monthly client billing, closely managing and monitoring Accounts Receivable. 
  • Lead vendor selection, negotiation, and management, including but not limited to:  
    • Strategically managing Accounts Payable
    • Researching and securing competitive inventory financing
    • Securing and managing essential business real estate
  • Lead and coordinate obtaining and maintaining various statutory and non-statutory licenses and certifications (e.g. MBE certifications, vendor certifications, etc.)
  • Support our Sales Team in preparing applications for RFI, RFP, etc
  • Liaise with regulatory/statutory authorities, agencies, banks, vendors, clients’ finance and procurement departments on admin and compliance matters
  • Design and implement efficient and scalable business policies related to the above
  • Liaise with African-based business operations managers to share and align on best practices, and to ensure consistency across the broader organization


  • Bachelor's degree in an Accounting or Finance related field. Professional designation preferred
  • 7+ years of progressive work experience in an accounting or finance role
  • Working knowledge of US tax, reporting and compliance requirements
  • Experience working in a start-up, scale-up, or SME environment
  • Proficiency with commonplace accounting tools and software, including Excel, Quickbooks, etc. 
  • Demonstrable project management, organizational and management reporting skills
  • Effective interpersonal and negotiation skills
  • Articulate and effective communicator, both orally and in writing, with strong presentation skills
  • Exceptional attention to detail 
  • Professional services or other client-management experience preferred
