Genser Energy is an energy solutions provider based in the USA with operations in West Africa. It specializes in providing custom engineered turn-key distributed generation installations and natural gas distribution infrastructure, selling power and natural gas to mines, industries, and utilities. Genser Energy engages in engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) as well as operation and maintenance (O&M) of its power generation plants. Each project is financed and owned by a country-level subsidiary in Africa.


Genser Energy is seeking an Organisational Development (ODV) Manager to join the team.  As the new ODV Manager, you will lead all day-to-day operations of human resource functions, operations, and be responsible for the following functional areas:  HRIS, employee relations, training and development, benefits and compensation, and administration. The role reports to the Vice President (VP) of Organizational Development (ODV) of Genser Energy.

 

Job Location: The Organisational Development Manager will be based at Genser Energy Corporate Office in Accra, Ghana

 

 

Role Responsibilities:
 

  • Designing, implementing and overseeing organizational policies to improve company performance.
  • Examining current policies and practices, identifying issues or weaknesses, and developing solutions to align with business goals.
  • Analyzing organizational structures, procedures, processes, and the utilization of resources.
  • Advising Department Managers and functional leaders on all company policies and employee benefits.
  • Designing and implementing various developmental initiatives, action plans, programs, and training materials.
  • Interviewing personnel and facilitating targeted skills development initiatives.
  • Consulting with the human resources associates and department leaders to guide personnel utilization, development, or hiring.
  • Leading business optimization initiatives by collaborating with the IT Department to deliver the organization's Digital transformation roadmap
  • Contributing to restructuring departments to increase efficiency and align activities with business objectives.
  • Optimizing personnel utilization by increasing cross-functionality and interdepartmental cooperation.
  • Measuring the impact of interventions on staff performance, efficiency, employee retention, and job satisfaction.
  • Advising executives and senior managers and recommending efficient and cost-effective solutions for identified challenges, including employee relations issues and accidents.
  • Documenting processes and presenting progress reports to executives and senior managers.
  • Consulting legal counsel to ensure policies comply with local, state/regional, and federal laws; identifies legal requirements and government reporting regulations affecting HR and ensures policies and procedures comply.
  • Developing and maintaining a Human Resource system that meets management information needs.
  • Administering salary, payroll, and benefit programs, i.e., life, health and dental, pension plans, vacation, sick leave, leave of absence, and employee assistance.
  • Preparing reports for insurance in conjunction with HSE Manager and coordinating safety committee meetings.
  • Preparing the budget of the Corporate HR Department, employee separation notices, and related documentation and conducting exit interviews to determine reasons behind separation.
     

Criteria

Candidate Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, HR, Psychology or Communications; MBA preferred
  • Fluency in English compulsory; Proficiency in French or Spanish a plus
  • 8-10 years’ experience in general Business Administration, HR or Organizational Development
  • 2-4 years’ in previous Supervisory or Management role

  • Proficient in strategic organizational skills with expertise in HR policy and procedural development
  • Fundamental knowledge of employee benefits and compensation programs, and Country Labor Laws
  • Have strong analytical skills with ability to work in a self-directed fashion within a team structure
  • Possess solid work ethic and professional maturity
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; strong written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to think ahead, plan and achieve key performance goals in a timely manner
  • Competence in multi-tasking & managing several priorities; ability to lead and be result oriented
