Genser Energy is an Independent Power Producer (IPP) based in the USA with operations in West Africa, which specialises in providing custom engineered turn-key distributed generation energy solutions for clients in the mining, manufacturing, and utilities industries. Their mission is to develop sustainable energy solutions despite the infrastructural constraints in Africa, whilst utilising the appropriate technologies in a safe, efficient & reliable manner, with a focus on the training and development of local expertise. Genser engages in engineering, procurement and construction (EPC), alongside the operation and maintenance (O&M) of its power generation plants and sells electricity and/or steam to its clients. Each project is financed and owned by a country-level subsidiary in Africa. Over the last eleven years, the team has completed and commissioned five distributed generation plants in Ghana and developed their own fuel supply chain for the smooth running and operation of the various thermal plants. Genser’s unique approach in delivering energy solutions, emphasises the team’s ability to expressly design, maintain and efficiently operate generation facilities tailored to their clients' needs and requirements. Genser is committed to providing sustainable and cost-effective energy solutions to numerous sectors across Africa; and is exploring projects in Gabon and Mauritania. 

 

Genser is seeking an entrepreneurial and performance-driven professional to join their Organisational Development team. As the new Organisational Development Manager, you will lead the day-to-day human resources operations for each office and production site. More than a traditional HR role, you will be responsible for developing a superior workforce. Working closely with the VP of Organisational Development, you will focus on the delivery of HR practices and objectives which drive an employee-oriented, high performance culture that emphasises quality and productivity.

 

Role Responsibilities:

 

  • Drive performance management and improvement tracking systems
  • Coordinate the development of a superior workforce and ongoing personal development of employees
  • Oversee employee development and an organisational culture that emphasises quality and high performance
  • Implement and drive effective company-employee communication
  • Recruitment for and staff facilities
  • Oversee employee orientation, development, and training logistics and record keeping
  • Manage employee relations
  • Oversee compensation and benefits administration, payroll and record keeping
  • Liaise with Health and Safety Department to ensure employee safety, welfare, wellness, and health reporting
  • Maintain all employee files and the HR filing system via Bamboo HR
  • Oversee day-to-day efficient operations in the HR Department

Criteria

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor Degree in HR, Psychology, or Business Administration; Master Degree a plus
  • Minimum of 6+ years’ experience in Org Development, HR or Management role
  • Fluency in English compulsory; Proficiency in a foreign language, preferably Spanish, a plus

  • Demonstrates leadership qualities and the ability to perform in an entrepreneurial environment
  • Possesses and demonstrates fundamental knowledge and understanding of employee benefits and compensation programs, policy development, budgeting and payroll execution, and familiarity with Ghana Labor Law
  • Demonstrates the the ability to think ahead, plan and achieve key performance goals over a period of time
  • Demonstrates an ability to multi-task and manage several priorities; the ability to lead and be result oriented
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written

Over the last eleven years, Genser Energy Holdings Inc., through its subsidiary, Genser Energy Ghana Limited, has completed and commissioned five distributed generation plants in Ghana, with a total output of 132MW - four of which are owned, operated and maintained by Genser. In addition to ownership of these distributed generation plants, Genser Energy Ghana has also developed their own fuel supply chain for the smooth running and operation of the various thermal plants. Genser Energy Ghana, currently owns two assets to facilitate the supply and storage of fuel for its generation plants, namely; the GP Tarkoradi Terminal and the GP Kojokrom (Eshiem) Facility. Genser’s current operations in Ghana reflect their firm commitment to increasing the generation capacity of the country.
