Genser Energy is an Independent Power Producer (IPP) based in the USA with operations in West Africa, which specialises in providing custom engineered turn-key distributed generation energy solutions for clients in the mining, manufacturing, and utilities industries. Their mission is to develop sustainable energy solutions despite the infrastructural constraints in Africa, whilst utilising the appropriate technologies in a safe, efficient & reliable manner, with a focus on the training and development of local expertise. Genser engages in engineering, procurement and construction (EPC), alongside the operation and maintenance (O&M) of its power generation plants and sells electricity and/or steam to its clients. Each project is financed and owned by a country-level subsidiary in Africa. Over the last eleven years, the team has completed and commissioned five distributed generation plants in Ghana and developed their own fuel supply chain for the smooth running and operation of the various thermal plants. Genser’s unique approach in delivering energy solutions, emphasises the team’s ability to expressly design, maintain and efficiently operate generation facilities tailored to their clients' needs and requirements. Genser is committed to providing sustainable and cost-effective energy solutions to numerous sectors across Africa; and is exploring projects in Gabon and Mauritania. The Genser team are seeking an experienced leader to join the team as Supply Chain Superintendent.

 

As the new Supply Chain Superintendent, you will be responsible primarily for administrating Project Contracts for Genser Energy by liaising with suppliers and contractors to ensure the execution of each project's contract. You will work closely with the VP of Technical Services and Supply Chain Manager. Your base location will be the Genser Energy Ghana Ltd (GEGL) Corporate Office in Tarkwa, Western Region of Ghana.

 

 

Role Responsibilities:

 

  • Invite and process all contract tenders; Prepare all contract documents for execution
  • Negotiate contract terms with internal and external business partners
  • Review and update existing contracts
  • Explain terms and conditions of all contracts to managers and interested parties
  • Ensure that employees understand and comply with contracts terms and requirements
  • Analyse potential risk involved with specific contract terms
  • Stay up-to date with legislative changes and coordinate with the legal department as needed
  • Ensure all deadlines and conditions described on contracts are met, i.e. payments and shipping, etc.
  • Maintain organised system of physical and digital records
  • Create language standards for existing and new contracts
  • Administer and oversee contract control and defect reporting procedures; collate and issue schedule of defects
  • Oversee and manage all contract claims
  • Coordinate all site inspections in accordance with regulatory or contractual obligations
  • Ensure that all project documentation is issued to the client, specifically interim or completion certificates, and making good of defects certificate
  • Performs any other duties as assigned

Criteria

Qualifications

  • Degree in Business Administration or Engineering; MBA in International Trading or Engineering or Energy preferred
  • 8+ years’ experience in related field, specifically 2-4 years in Supervisory role with Contract Administration experience

Competencies

  • Knowledge in International Federation of Consulting Engineers (FIDIC) Contract regulations & legal requirements of Oil & Gas / Energy law.
  • Keen attention to detail and strong analytical skills. 
  • Ability to work in a self-directed fashion within a team-oriented structure, solid work ethic, and professional maturity. 
  • Demonstrate leadership qualities and the ability to perform in an entrepreneurial environment.
  • Ability to think ahead, plan and achieve key performance goals over period of time. 
  • Competence in multi-tasking & managing several priorities; ability to lead and be result oriented.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Ability to work varying seniority levels, including staff, managers and external partners

Genser Energy Ghana, currently owns two assets to facilitate the supply and storage of fuel for its generation plants, namely; the GP Tarkoradi Terminal and the GP Kojokrom (Eshiem) Facility.
