DDI is looking for a Data Scientist who is excited to build insightful data tools that help solve global social impact challenges, starting with the biggest challenge facing the world today, providing insight for the decision makers working to limit the spread of the COVID19 virus. DDI is currently leading the Data-Against-COVID19 Task Force in Belgium and are looking for a problem-solver and committed self-starter to join the team. They are building data products, algorithms and data visualizations, that help public health officials and policy makers make more informed decisions in the response against COVID19. They are in conversations to scale the Data Against COVID19 Toolkit in Europe and Africa.

 

Job description

  • Build efficient data pipelines start to finish
  • Apply agile development to continuously improve deliverables based on team feed back
  • Communicate your ideas and rationale to the project manager or client, and see concepts through to final design deliverable
  • Building complex data visualisations using open source libraries and proprietary tools
  • Automating analyses and authoring data pipelines

Minimum Qualifications

  • 2-3 years of experience working with data, web development or related fields
  • Experience solving analytical problems using quantitative approaches
  • Great sense of graphic design and visual data story telling-Intermediate or proficient with Python (R is a plus)
  • Experience with BI tools (e.g., Tableau or Power BI)
  • Knowledge of data visualization Python libraries (Plotly, Altair, Bokeh, Shiny)
  • Experience with front-end frameworks (Vue, React) and JavaScript visualisation libraries (D3, Chars) is a plus
  • Experience in Databases (Relationals and non-relationals) is a plus
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
