Coronation Merchant Bank is seeking an experienced Investment professional to join their team as Head of Wealth Management.

 

As the new Head of Wealth Management, you will build out a world class practice, package and the partnerships, to successfully target and secure high net worth clients. You will drive the growth of Coronation Merchant Bank’s wealth management business by leading your team to provide clients with superior quality advisory services based on a deep understanding of their financial needs and ambitions.

 

Role Responsibilities:

 

  • Build a new world-class wealth management function for a premier investment bank in Africa’s largest economy, drawing on global experience
  • Create strategic partnerships with industry professionals to deliver bespoke wealth management services to clients
  • Forge relationships with Nigeria’s HNWIs and UHNWIs
  • Provide the Group’s wealth management’s services to high net worth individuals primarily through face to face meetings and networking, cultivation of external referral sources and creative networking with key influencers
  • Conduct investment reviews with clients to validate the clients' current investment objectives and prepare recommendations 
  • Supervise the articulation and roll out of innovative wealth management products and services focused on the target clientele
  • Execute investment solutions in client accounts in accordance with client plans
  • Full service client management, including establishing family offices
  • Develop and own the strategy for the growth of the wealth management practice
  • Supervise and direct the collation of market, industry and competitive intelligence to facilitate deal origination and market penetration
  • Maintain periodic contact with existing clients and act as a liaison between the clients and the rest of the business for various activities (e.g. setting up accounts, facilitating transactions).
  • Perform key sales management activities including coordination of RFPs, pitches, road shows, proposals
  • Demonstrate commitment to the Group’s business principles by demonstrating excellent client service and professionalism
  • Hire, coach and motivate a team of Wealth Management Officers to achieve and exceed defined client service benchmarks and sales goals

Criteria

  • Bachelor’s degree required, advanced degree preferred. CFA, ICAN, ACCA designations are an added advantage
  • Minimum of 12 years’ experience in Wealth Management or Investment Management
  • Professional experience within a globally-renowned wealth management organisation
  • Experience working with family offices
  • Leadership experience of a high-performing team of wealth / investment management professionals
  • Strong investment skills and expertise in detailed client profiling
  • Strong knowledge of asset classes (fixed income, equities and alternatives)
  • Experience in marketing traditional and sophisticated financial and/or wealth planning strategies
  • Highly entrepreneurial
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills, critical to building and maintaining strong client relationships
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, for effective technical and interpersonal interaction with clients and colleagues
  • Excellent analytical/problem solving skills with ability to effectively priorities workload and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work both independently, taking clear ownership for delivery, and collaborate with team.
  • Self-motivated, execution driven with proven history of rapidly coming up to speed quickly and being effective.
