The team are looking for an experienced and driven leader with experience in ecommerce, retail, or similar industries, to join them as Chief Commercial Officer based in Lagos, Nigeria.

 

You will lead the company's sales performance and drive overall success, with direct oversight of all commercial activities in-country, including Vendor Acquisition, Vendor Management & Category Development. In addition, you will be responsible for the execution of the centrally defined improvements/routines, participating in their refinement through the collection of detailed customer/vendor feedbacks, and leading country related specific projects to reach those objectives.

 

Main responsibilities include:
 

  • Setting the commercial strategy of the department (sales targets, target categories/segments to unlock, target key suppliers, target number of suppliers to onboard etc)
  • Managing a team in charge of vendor acquisition, vendor management, sourcing operations and content management
  • Scaling the team and processes to support the growth of the company
  • Recruiting adequate profiles to join the team
  • Meeting key vendors and suppliers to negotiate partnerships, contracts and service level agreements.
  • Ensuring regular and quality reporting of team actions and results
     

Criteria

  • Strong experience (minimum 6 years) in consumer goods, retail, ecommerce or similar industry
  • Strong local knowledge and deep understanding of business environment, with at least 4 years’ work experience in Nigeria
  • Experience in a leadership role (with at least 30 indirect reports)
  • Strong commercial awareness and negotiation skills
  • Experience building relationships with suppliers, vendors, and other key stakeholders
  • Strong drive and a focus on outcomes
  • Capacity to challenge and improve processes
  • Ability to identify new business opportunities
